Norway

Updated: Nov 16

I had always wanted to travel to Norway. Hearing so much about the scenery, the society and of course the people, the fact that we could combine this with a cruise made it happen this year.

It was disappointing at the start and the end, where our ship couldn't get to the cruise terminal in Amsterdam because of climate crusaders blocking its entry, and then the cruise company decided to come back one day early to get to the terminal before the crusaders could strike again.

Having said that, everything else was great. The further north we went, the more interesting the trip became. Finding a year-round Christmas shop on one of the days out was always going to be a plus!!

We crossed into the Arctic Circle, where Reuben was thrilled to get a certificate for that. Then we made our way to Honningsvag, one of the most northerly towns in Europe.

Having fantastic food, meeting brilliant staff and guests in the shop, the whole thing was over too soon.

If you ever have the chance to see something once in your life, you should do a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords.
